Noboprobhaat Foundation

Md Yasin Ali

Founder & Executive Director

Md Yasin Ali is a rural youth human rights activist, grassroots organizer, and movement leader from Rangpur, Bangladesh. He is the Founder and Executive Director of Noboprobhaat Foundation, a youth-led, community-rooted non-profit organization working to advance the rights, safety, dignity, and inclusion of marginalized communities, particularly rural gender and sexualy diverse youth, indigenous youth, rural diverse women, and other underserved groups.

Yasin’s commitment to human rights is deeply rooted in lived experience and community realities. Growing up in northern part of Bangladesh, he witnessed the discrimination, exclusion, and violence faced by rural marginalized youth communities. These experiences shaped his lifelong commitment to creating safer spaces, amplifying marginalized voices, and building community-led solutions. In 2018, at just 17 years old, Yasin founded Noboprobhaat Foundation together with a group of like-minded young people, building it as a platform for social justice, democracy, equality, and inclusion.

Under Yasin’s leadership, Noboprobhaat Foundation has grown from a rural grassroots initiative into a nationally and internationally recognized community-based organization. What once seemed almost unimaginable for a rural, youth-led organization has become a reality: Noboprobhaat Foundation is now legally registered with the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms (RJSC), the Department of Youth Development, and the NGO Affairs Bureau. This achievement reflects Yasin’s strategic leadership, persistence, and ability to build institutional legitimacy for a movement rooted in some of the most marginalized communities in Bangladesh.

Yasin has also worked as a Human Rights Fellow with ARTICLE 19 South Asia under the “Our Voices Our Choices” project. In this role, he supported civic space and civic rights initiatives, maintained communication and coordination with civil society organizations, contributed to field-level interventions, and helped organize trainings, workshops, dialogues, meetings, and advocacy events with CSOs, youth groups, media representatives, and local stakeholders.

As a grassroots human rights advocate, Yasin has consistently contributed to national and international advocacy on the rights, protection, and lived realities of marginalized communities in Bangladesh. He has authored and contributed to reports and submissions to various United Nations human rights mechanisms, including the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the Independent Expert on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity, and other UN Special Procedures. Through this work, he has helped bring forward the experiences, challenges, and rights-based demands of communities that are often excluded from mainstream policy discussions.

In recognition of his leadership and the organization’s impact, Noboprobhaat Foundation has received the APCOM Hero Award 2024 and the Youth Equality Award 2026. These recognitions reflect not only the organization’s contribution to community-based human rights work, health awareness, and social inclusion, but also Yasin’s courage, vision, and sustained leadership.

Beyond his role at Noboprobhaat Foundation, Yasin serves as Vice-President of Prantik Nagorik Network, a national network of marginalized citizens’ organizations working to advance civic space and democratic participation in Bangladesh. He also leads the Showhardo Alliance, a national alliance hosted by Noboprobhaat Foundation as its Secretariat.

Despite ongoing threats, social hostility, and the challenges of grassroots human rights work in Bangladesh, Yasin continues to live and work in Rangpur, close to the communities he serves. His work is grounded in resilience, care, and the belief that a more equal, democratic, and inclusive future is possible for all.
