About Diversity Youth Parliament

Diversity Youth Parliament (DYP) is a flagship youth leadership and civic engagement initiative of Noboprobhaat Foundation. Established to strengthen democratic participation, active citizenship, and youth leadership, DYP provides a platform where diverse young people can learn, lead, engage, and contribute to positive social change in Bangladesh.

DYP was created in response to the growing need for meaningful youth participation in civic and democratic processes. Despite representing a significant portion of the country's population, many young people—particularly those from marginalized, underrepresented, and rural communities—often have limited opportunities to participate in decision-making processes, develop leadership skills, and engage with public institutions. Diversity Youth Parliament seeks to address this gap by creating an inclusive and youth-led platform that equips young people with the knowledge, skills, and networks necessary to become effective leaders and changemakers.

Our purpose
Vision

Equal opportunity to shape an inclusive society.

A Bangladesh where all young people have equal opportunities to participate in civic life, influence decisions that affect their communities, and contribute to building an inclusive, democratic, and equitable society.

Mission

Active citizens, ethical leaders.

To empower diverse young people through civic education, leadership development, democratic engagement, community participation, and youth-led advocacy — enabling them to become active citizens committed to equality, dignity, human rights, and social justice.

What we do

Six ways diverse young people learn to lead.

DYP promotes youth participation and leadership through educational, engagement, and capacity-building activities.

01

Youth Parliament & Senate

Representative youth structures — a Youth Senate and Youth Parliament — where young people debate community issues, shape policy recommendations, and practise democratic processes.

02

Leadership Development

Training and mentorship on leadership, communication, public speaking, negotiation, teamwork, strategic planning, and community organizing.

03

Civic Education

Knowledge of democratic values, governance, active citizenship, accountability, public participation, and the rights and responsibilities of citizens.

04

Human Rights Awareness

Understanding of human rights, equality, dignity, inclusion, and respect for diversity — and the confidence to advocate for their communities.

05

Community Engagement

Youth-led initiatives, volunteerism, local problem-solving, and community action that strengthen social cohesion.

06

Advocacy & Movement Building

Building advocacy skills and networks, engaging stakeholders, and driving change through collective action and constructive dialogue.

Our long-term goal

A nationwide network of empowered young leaders.

DYP aims to build a generation of informed, engaged leaders who strengthen democratic participation, advance human rights, promote inclusion, and create positive change across Bangladesh. By investing in young people today, we help shape the changemakers of tomorrow.
