“Noboprobhaat Foundation Empowers Rural Hijra and Gender Diverse Youth through Legal Awareness Session”
Rangpur, Bangladesh – On 29 March 2025, Noboprobhaat Foundation successfully hosted a Legal Awareness Session in Rangpur, aimed at empowering rural hijra and gender diverse youth with essential legal knowledge and tools to navigate discrimination and access justice. This activity was conducted under the Rapid Response Grant, funded by FCDO collaboration with Kaleidoscope Trust (UK).
The session included 20 community participants, 2 professional lawyers (1 male and 1 female), and 7 Noboprobhaat Foundation staff members who supported facilitation and logistics. Participants received hands-on training on how to file legal complaints, report violence or discrimination, and access services under current Bangladeshi law.

“This was not just a training—it was a moment of emotional strength and knowledge for many of us who have been systematically excluded,” said one participant.
The session highlighted the growing legal challenges faced by gender diverse communities in rural Bangladesh—especially in the aftermath of the sudden suspension of USAID funding, which had threatened the continuity of community-based support services. This grant provided by Kaleidoscope Trust allowed Noboprobhaat Foundation to resume critical grassroots advocacy and rebuild engagement in vulnerable communities.
“We are incredibly grateful to Kaleidoscope Trust for stepping in when we needed it most,” said Md Yasin Ali, Founder and Chairman of Noboprobhaat Foundation.
“This session was a step toward justice, dignity, and empowerment for our community members who have long been silenced.”
The organization reaffirms its commitment to continue building safe and inclusive spaces for all individuals—especially those left behind by mainstream development frameworks.
